This plan has been specially developed by Irish Medical Organisation Services to cater for the needs of hospital doctors.

Your contract of employment grants you short term sick pay entitlement, however, this ceases after a maximum period of one year, when an Ill Health Pension may become payable. Only doctors with more than 5 years of service qualify for the Ill Health Pension, others with lesser service only qualify for a once-off settlement. If you qualify for a pension, its value is somewhat limited as it is calculated using year basic rate of pay and years of service. Doctors depending on this as their only income would face a bleak future financially.

Costs under the Plan are extremely competitive and apply equally to male and female doctors.
