Most people only take out Life Assurance when they are borrowing for a house or surgery.

You will probably want to provide a lump sum for your partner or family in the event of your untimely death.

IMO Financial Services have designed a specific Group Life Assurance Scheme for members of the IMO.

Your Questions

Q. How are premiums paid?

A. All premiums are to be paid on a monthly basis by direct debit.

Q. Is the cost of cover guaranteed?

A. The costing of the IMO scheme is based on the overall age profile of members, The levels of cover selected and the effect on older members leaving and younger members joining the scheme. The costs within the various bands while not guaranteed, should remain the same.

Q. What happens if I go abroad as part of my training or postgraduate education?

A. You are automatically covered if you go abroad, provided you are resident in one of the scheduled territories, i.e. Europe, North America & Australia.

Q. Is death from AIDS covered?

A. Yes, provided that one has answered all health questions truthfully in relation to lifestyle etc, one is covered. Accordingly accidental needlestick injuries etc are covered.

Q. What Life Company is underwriting this Scheme?

A. The IMO Life Assurance Scheme is being underwritten by Eagle Star.

Q. How do I apply for life Assurance under the Group scheme?

A. Each person applying for life Assurance Cover under this scheme should complete an application form. If each individual; i.e. you, your spouse or employees are paying for their cover on their own Direct Debit, the Single Direct Debit option should be ticked.
If however you wish to pay premiums for Your spouse and/or employees, please tick the Global Direct Debit option on each of their respective application forms state the name of your account in the relevant section.

Q. Are there other forms of insurance I should look at in addition?

A. Yes, there is a full range of whole of life and term plans etc., available in the marketplace. For information you should contact IMOFS so that we can tailor a cost efficient package built around this scheme and your current state entitlements.
